It is a truth and universally acknowledged that Boxing is a prominent but violent sport. Ever since the inception of this sport, boxers suffered injuries while fighting.  Not only that, there were  1,876 Boxers, between 1890 and 2019, who died as a direct result of injuries sustained in boxing matches. Most of them are head injuries. However, today we will discuss whether boxing is good for kids/teenagers or whether it is a violent sport.

the popular sport Boxing good for kids/teenagers or whether it is a violent sport:

Earlier to that, there were 266 recorded deaths, from 1740 to 1889,  from fatal wounds when boxers fought bare-knuckled. John Sholto Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry, introduced timed rounds and mandatory use of padded gloves in 1866. This was the basis of modern boxing. Now, three major rival organizations control the international sport. They are WBA, WBC, and IBF. But no authorities can guarantee the safety of boxers. Still, this topic tries to examine if boxing is good for kids. We need to know who the kids are. As per international and domestic law a kid or a child is anyone who is under the age of 18. But a child of 8 to 13 years old is to be an exact kid. And then another cute term for them to be used as long as they are not adults.

The word is “Adolescence”. Adolescence is a shy stage of life. Before being an adult an adolescent is a first growing teenager kid. He and she face physical and psychological changes that make them feel awkward. On top of everything, at this stage of life, their dreams try to be materialized. Of course,  some boys are born to be heroes.

About Two popular Boxers:

Mohammad Ali whose birth name was Cassius Clay. When he was 12 years old took up boxing under the tutelage of Joe Martin, a Louisville policeman. He shook the world first by renouncing his chained name.  At the age of 22, Ali won the world heavyweight championship from Sonny Liston in a major upset. The fight took place on February 25, 1964, in Lewiston, Miami Beach.

Tyson was even younger than Ali when he made his professional debut as an 18-year-old. He fought Hector Mercedes and defeated him by first-round Technical Knockout (TKO). The fight took place on March 6, 1985, in Albany, New York.  Tyson was the youngest titleholder in world boxing history. He was only 20 years old. He knocked out 33-year-old Trevor Berbick in just five minutes and 35 seconds.

These two highly acclaimed boxers were barely adults when they professionally started fighting. They rose to stardom when they were still young. They had extraordinary health ever since their childhood. They had many dreams to become world boxing champions. They never thought to be injured by their opponents rather they thought otherwise and nothing daunted them.

Sometimes people loosely call adult people with miniature stature or poor health “kids”.

Kids with poor health should not venture into boxing as their future career. Because boxing is not just a sport it is an extreme sport associated with martial arts.

The purpose of boxing is to attain the techniques to successfully fight the opponent in the competition. In such a competition, he could seriously get injured. Exercising for good health and good body shape is good for everybody. A gym is perfect to attain those purposes including strength.

Before doing injustice to boxing it is better to admit that anyone can practice boxing with proper guidance, maybe just for a past time or to vent pent-up anger. They can do shadow boxing or friendly sparring. If a kid without knowing the consequences of boxing wants to play this game must be warned ahead of time. If he or she insists they need to be trained on how to defend themselves. The kids who enjoy boxing and it promisingly can take up the sport as a career, despite the risk of being injured. Both Tyson and Ali started practicing when they were kids. If they would not take the bold decision to become boxers, the world would have been deprived of being entertained and the great lessons they set up.

Final Words:

In modern boxing, the sport deserves a lot of reformation so that boxers do not get hurt so bad leading to death. We hope this article helps people know about the sport of boxing.
