If you are thinking about learning boxing and have the same question in your mind then the same answer goes for you, but you have to give a lot of effort on it. At the same time you have to know about some things or information related to this topic.

Start boxing at home without any stuff

When someone first starts boxing practice at the beginner level, they often start it without any boxing equipment. This is called “shadow-boxing”

When you practice this in your home, you need to make sure that you have sufficient space to get around. You may sometimes have to practice in front of a mirror to adjust or organize your form differently. So, you must keep a mirror for your practice.

At the same time you should make your moves in different combinations and try different types of punching techniques with experimental defensive boxing moves.

When you are just starting out as a beginner then you need to know about some workout which will help you to go through your basic level boxing as well as improve your skills.

Warm-up:

Before doing any kind of workout one should need to prepare his or her body for that workout, and its called warm-up. Do jogging, cycling, jumping rope, walking and squats can be the warm-up exercise for body.

After doing the warm-up one can go ahead to do the boxing exercise.

Footwork:

It’s said that “Proper footwork is the key to success in boxing.” So, anyone who want to be good at boxing have to put a lot of effort in his/her footwork from the beginning level. He/she has to do proper exercise to improve his/her footwork. For example: front jump, exercising with ladder drills, mountain climbers are the best workout for footwork in boxing and one should try and maintain this footwork exercise from the beginning level. But for the beginners, it gets sometime difficult, and they get tired easily because they don’t have the habit of doing this kind of workout. For this they have to do the exercise regularly maintaining some steps that are given below:

Step-1: At first, one has to avoid crossing legs because it can be the reason to lose balance and one will get weak to his opponent. That’s why one have to avoid it very carefully.

Step-2: One has to carry on the balls in his feet and apportion his body weight in both his legs equally.

Step-3: One’s feet should never move away from the boxing stance.

Stance:

Stance is an important workout in boxing. In it one’s non-dominant leg should be used. In easy word, If you are a righty then your left leg should be leading and your right leg should be in behind. If you are lefty then your right leg should be leading and your left leg should be in behind. After that you have to make sure that your other feet (not the leading feet) should be in the position of shoulder width apart.

Then your lead hand (if you are righty then the lead is your left hand and if you are lefty then the lead is your right hand) should be seated at the eye level with your behind arm. But it has to touch your rib.

After that you have to careful and have to keep that in mind that you have to ignore standing on your feet in too open or too narrow position because it can hamper your balance as well as speed. So, your body weight should be distributed evenly among your knees and feet.

Punches:

Punches is the another major skill of boxing. There are many types of punches, but the beginner should start with these four which are: Jab, Cross, Hooks and Uppercut. When someone uses these four types of punches strategically then they get into a skillful level in boxing. But you have to be heedful and have to think rationally of ordination your power equally.

For example: When you are throwing a jab then the cross must be the following punches.

It would be easier for you to understand if I could briefly explain the different types of punches. So, I explained it below:

Jab: Jab is a kind of very quick punch probably a very suitable technique for the beginners in boxing. It maybe seemed very simple, but it can make a huge difference at the time fighting. It is one of the best punch in boxing.

Cross: When you punch directly to your opponent then it’s called “Cross “. In it, you have to shift your body weight to your leading leg because of pivoting your back foot and turn your body in front position.

Uppercut: Uppercut are basically used when your opponent is a little nearer to you or in average medium distance. At the time of throwing uppercut you have to turn your knees, and you have to low your shoulder as you have to defend your face.

Hooks: Hooks are mostly making of use when your opponent in medium distance, that means when your opponent’s is not too close or not too far from you then you should use it. Because of throwing a hook, your arm will be disclosed with 90 angles a little to the side of your body.

Because of throwing punches, do not fail to think of keeping your idle hand in watch.

Defense

Defense is one of the most significant techniques in boxing. One should be good at defense if he/she wants to be a good boxer. To understand easily defense can be parted into some steps and those are:

Step-1: Backwards your leading leg step.

Step-2: Make a move on your hip and get low.
