MMA ( Mixed Martial Arts)fighters are used to fighting with the skills and techniques of wrestling, boxing, jiu jitsu, muay thai, karate, Judu. With all available skills the fighters try to tap out the opponent to win and the distressed fighter tap out to end the fight. This article is intended to depict the nature of MMA fighting sports by tapping out the opponents to win the match.

How to stop fight:

The word “tap out” is an MMA sports parlance meaning submitting to the opponent. The competitor, who is in peril by another fighter, to avoid going unconscious, desperately tape out the opponent’s body or tap the floor. Sometimes he utters the word “tap” to clearly signal to the opponent and the referee that he wants the fight to stop right now.

Conceding defeat for future:

Fighting is forever for a professional. A martial arts fighter cannot just suffer unconsciousness  by being knocked down by the opponent because life is more important than anything else. Every time a fighter taps he learns from mistakes he has made. The head concussion from the result of being hit can cause loss of oxygen to the brain of the grounded fighter. There is no need to get choked to take a chance to win the match. Because a stubborn fighter often suffers from  fatal damage that could even cost him to end the career. The proper way of MMA  fights is when a contestant in danger must tap out to end the fight so that he can fight better for the future

MMA Submission Techniques:

Since MMA is made of many prominent traditional martial arts, it is widely believed Bruce Lee invented it.  Its various moves are very vast. To tap out an opponent  a fighter usually uses a few most painful techniques of submissions. We compile some best submissions for MMA fighters. Those are follows:

MMA armbar:

This is a joint lock submission in MMA fights popular nowadays. This submission is performed by placing your legs across your opponent’s chest with one of his arms pulling between your thighs and the elbow joint against your hips to tighten more and more to make him submit to you.

Arm triangle choke:

Causing an opponent to have severe difficulty in breathing by constriction or obstructing throat lacking of air is a dangerous situation. Using an arm in triangle shape to choke the opponent is a very effective way to make an MMA fighter submit.

Triangle choke:

A triangle choke technique taken from Judo is a type of figure-four chokehold strangling the opponent by encircling his neck, while one arm with the legs in contour looking triangle shape.

Guillotine choke:

The guillotine choke is also borrowed from Judo. This chokehold forces the opponent to bend the waist to the front while standing and the neck is encircled using the arms. The chokehold is also applicable when the opponent is forced onto the ground.

Rear nacked choke:

This chokehold in martial arts applied from an opponent’s back to tap him out. Unlike other strangulation techniques as found in Jiu jitsu, the most popular  BJJ chokehold does not require a training uniform (keikogi) so it is nacked. The uniform doesn’t matter here. The chokehold is stronger than a tight handcuff and quite able to snap the neck as well.

Final Thoughts:

There are more submission moves in MMA fights and all of them have  different martial arts techniques but the goal is the same to tap out(give in ) the opponent. This is a combative sport and very decisive one; the techniques applied here are extremely dangerous. Therefore, the contestant when feeling unwell or having severe breathing problems should tap out to end the fight immediately before he or she goes unconscious.
