There have been a lot of achievements of Krav Maga since the time it was developed. Krav Maga is an extreme kind of fighting technique to overpower the enemies and thus escape the assaults.  The article deals with Krav Maga’s position in the sporting world.

Krav Maga Defence System:

Since Krav Maga is a defence system it is neither a combat sport nor a martial art. It is a self-defence system developed by Imi Lichtenfeld in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. He first taught his self-defence fighting system the local jews community in Bratislava in order to protect them from the heinous Nazi militia systemic persecution. Krav Maga techniques are designed mainly for survival, leaving the scene before getting caught and prosecuted by majority Nazi militia. Most of the techniques of Krav Maga are creating distance from the attacker by encountering him to flee from the untoward situations. Since the main purpose of Krav Maga is hit and run,  the attacked persons cannot expect to defeat the enemy fighter. The reason is that to defeat someone a close contact combat sport like MMA is required. Krav Maga does not follow any rules. It does all means available to prevent the attack. Krav Maga fighter is a non-combatant person. But if he is attacked he can do whatever he wants to. Eye gouging, kicking into the groyne could take place to avoid being murdered.

Krav Maga a part of MMA:

Krav Maga is so effective to fight an enemy to overpower him  but it is not suitable for an MMA fight in the octagon. MMA is an ultimate fight incorporating traditional martial arts like boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, judo, karate and muay thai boxing and other disciplines. Many techniques of Krav Maga are found in MMA fights. This means MMA also incorporates Krav Maga skills and techniques when it is necessary in an MMA fighting match. The octagon match venue with  no chance of escaping from there. But in the name of Krav Maga there is no direct sport or martial art because the intention of this fight is self-defence. Krav Maga is designed(as a part of defensive fight) for hand to hand combat for a short period. While MMA matches are under regulation UFC fights continue as long as it is necessary to make the opponent submit to win the match.

World-wide use of Krav Maga:

Krav Maga is still in use. The Israel Defence Forces’ Special Forces’ Units, Security Forces and Regular Infantry Units still use Krav Maga. Israeli law enforcement and intelligence organisations have adopted closely related developed techniques of Krav Maga. Krav Maga is so effective as a self-defence system that it has been adopted and taught to many federal and state law enforcement agencies. It includes the FBI, US Marshal Service, DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and US Secret Service. The use of Krav Maga for civil people is not meant to oppress them, rather it is used when the suspect resists to avoid being arrested and for self-defence. For the same purpose Krav Maga is practised in Europe, Asia, Australia and other parts of the world among the military personnel and law enforcement agencies. The IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation) run by the students of Imi Lichtenfeld, who developed Krav Maga, trains civilians alongside the law enforcement agencies world-wide.

Conclusion:

As mentioned above, Krav Maga was developed on purpose to encounter the attack of the Nazi militia in the street. Antisemitism attack on minority jews people in Bratislava was a constant fear caused by the majority Nazi militia. The jews community had to fight back to escape death and persecution. Therefore, it is said that Krav Maga is effective in many ways to overpower for a certain period of time to flee the scene. It is not designed to defeat the opponent as an MMA fight is.
