Are there any differences in style/technique between MCMAP, Krav Maga, and MMA?

The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) is a combat strategy developed by the United States Marine Corps. MCMAP incorporates techniques from most effective martial arts  such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, Wrestling, Karate, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Taekwondo, Kung fu, and other disciplines.

Both Krav Maga and MCMAP are not sports at all. These are combat tactics for defence and offensive measures. On the other hand, MMA has been a well-established sport recognized for a long time.

About MCMAP, Krav Maga, and MMA:

MCMAP:

Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) is a blend of many martial arts, drawing heavily from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Boxing; it helps develop Marines’ bodies, minds, and spirits. MCMAP is used in Close-Quarters-Combat (CQC) or Close-Quarters-Battle (CQB). It is a tactical situation that involves a physical fight with firearms, involving multiple combatants at short range. Explain it furthermore, MCMAP was implemented to increase combat efficiency as well as to increase the confidence and leadership abilities of Marines. All Marines are required to train MCMAP alongside other professional training. Because in every combat situation, a bayonet or a firearm is not required. Besides, no man can be too cautious to carry a weapon all the time. Well-trained human arms are sufficient to face challenges, and even overpower enemies. MCMAP was developed in peacetime, unlike Krav Maga. That’s why MCMP’s training style and techniques are pretty much different from Krav Maga which was invented in pre-World War II Europe. Naturally, fighting techniques and styles were different from each other.

Krav Maga:

Krav Maga uses instinctive movements and aggressive counterattacks. There are no rules to avenge the enemies or counterattack enemies to avoid imminent dangers. Most importantly, the main distinguishing feature of Krav Maga is that it has no rules. Finishing enemies as soon as possible is the rule. Eye gouging, groin strikes, and throat grabbing are all permitted in Krav Maga. Actually,y these were some shivering training given to the vulnerable Jews communities living in Czechoslovakia during a time of rising anti-Semitism hatred. These mindless counter-attacks were justified as self-defense because the systematic persecution by Nazisiswas even worse. However, Krav Maga is still used by the Israeli Defense Forces. But the necessity for extreme kinds of reprisals is hardly required now. Because the situation has changed. No noticeable hatred against Jews people except once in a while. However, the Krav Maga defensive method has been refined. In some precincts in the USA Krav Maga is applied to overpower a suspect who resists arrest. Here the intention of using Krav Maga is for the safety of the police force. Still, it significantly differs in terms of training styles and techniques from MCMAP.

MMA:

Mixed martial arts(MMA), sometimes referred to as cage fighting. It is a full-contact combat sport mainly based on striking, grappling, and ground fighting. MMA incorporates techniques from various combat sports from around the world. MMA is a recognized sport as it maintains rules set by UFC. These rules help ensure athlete safety and fair competition. As MMA is a combat sport bound by rules while fighting in the cage, its training techniques/styles differ from MCMAP and Krav Maga. It has nothing to do with military training whose purpose is to fightingtingenemies.

Conclusion:

MCMAP and Krav Maga teach us to kill enemies with bare hands, if necessary. But their fighting styles are quite different from each other. MMA is an ever-growing popular combat sport that intends to entertain its audience by playing fair. MMA does not mean to hurt the opponents, because breaking rules could result in losing the match.
