In ancient history, Shaolin monks in greater China in the Shaolin temple in Henan province developed Shaolin Kung Fu. It is one of the famous styles of Kung Fu in Chan Buddhism. Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the cradle of Chinese Kung Fu which has its roots in a saga of more than 1500 years ago. Like most martial arts backgrounds, Shaolin Kung Fung was developed for self-defense. Because innocuous monks were systematically attacked and robbed. Today’s topic is about historic Shaolin monks fighting style against their enemies with their invention named Kung Fu.

About Shaolin monks:

Shaolin Kung Fu fighting style is striking the attackers with all possible ways of punching, kicking, and blocking. The Shaolin monks took the path of the most arduous discipline to learn Kung Fu to defend themselves. The monks train seven days a week from half-past five AM until six PM, taking a brief break for lunch. Their strict discipline denies sensuality and empowers them with inexplicable physical and mental strength. Monks are self-denied practitioners. Non-violence is their motto. But they believe Power is necessary to establish Peace. The monks achieved an aspect of spirituality and mental control in their fighting arts, something obscure to understanding common people.

Shaolin monk vs MMA fighter:

MMA fighters are well-versed in Kung Fu. Kung Fu is an umbrella term. There are at least five most popular styles of Kung Fu still in existence. Shaolin Temple Style Kung Fu is one of them. Shaolin Kung Fu is still practiced by the monks. This style originated around 1500 years ago. Still, it has great appeal to spectators as the art of the Kung is beautiful to watch. With Shaolin Kung Fu devotion by the practitioners is involved. It is one of the best Kung Fu styles. Because it is effective in an unarmed fight in a street when attacked by assailants. And at the same time it is not designed to exterminate the enemies rather it is used for self-defense to the extent it is required. This discipline teaches spirituality alongside physical self-defense training. Unlike MMA, Shaolin Kung Fu is a single combat technique as MMA incorporates at least 6 martial arts. These are Boxing, Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, Bjj, and Wrestling. Compared to Shaolin Kung Fu, Mixed Martial Arts is more effective while fighting. The emergence of MMA is late and so it is more technically equipped than Shaolin monks. Shaolin monk’s Kung Fu is a  part of an MMA fight. This Kung Fu is not as dangerous as grappling the opponent in an MMA fight. The Shaolin monks could punch and kick, but that wouldn’t be enough to defeat an MMA fighter, even if both the fighters are of the same weight. Although Shaolin monks were trained in Kung Fu, they learned it as a martial art to fight alongside armies in wars. Even one of them was made a general. Still, modern-day MMA fighters, having trained in various martial arts, prove themselves unbeatable.

Conclusion:

In MMA fighting, nearly all fights end up on the ground. Shaolin monks are not the ones who know how to grapple the opponent and choke him until he taps out to surrender. An MMA fighter looks for a martial art that focuses on grappling and submissions. While Kung Fu which Shaolin monks used to perform emphasizes fighting from a distance and is hardly useful in a fight in the octagon. A Shaolin monk will concede defeat to an MMA fighter in the end, if the fight is fairly fought.
