There are other sensitive areas (the nose, the back of the skull)headbutts can strike at and cause excruciating pain. While every combat sport involves injuries, wounds, and damages of different degrees, owing to the reasons, some are unbearable. Today’s topic is about headbutting. We will discuss if it is allowed in MMA fighting.

Is Headbutting legal?

Headbutts were legal in the past when older organizations could not come up with new rules to discourage headbutting. Today, almost every MMA organization passes rules strongly suggesting that headbutting is illegal. They are dangerous, harming the brain, and can cause bad cuts on both fighters. In the evolution of MMA, nowadays headbutting is rare and intentional headbutts are illegal. The MMA referee is entitled to deduct a point/points of the fighter who executes intentional headbutts. In a three-round fight, one point could make the big difference between a win and a loss. The ban on headbutting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) took place in April 2000. The California State Athletic Commission voted unanimously in favor of regulations that later became the foundation for the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Of them, one of the rules was the banning of headbutts executed from any positions whatsoever. Headbutting is a kind of weapon. A man with a strong skull can break a weaker skull. And it could happen too quickly to notice in the fight. The attacker who kills somebody using his headbutt practices the technique. A practiced headbutt must be stronger than a non-practiced one.

Headbutting is not allowed to practice in MMA:

There are very few rules maintained in Mixed Martial Arts, all of which were established over the last ten years. Before that, it was a brutal combat sport in which the health of the MMA fighters was always at risk due to the lack of rules. The new rules dictate that certain moves, including headbutting, biting, and eye gouging, are not permitted in MMA fighting.

Conclusion:

Fully matured people’s skulls are much stronger than younger and older people’s skulls. There was a time when ethnic cleansing occurred across the world headbutting was used as slaying people indiscriminately. However, head-butting is a hateful tool to attack other human beings. Therefore, you can neither headbutt in MMA nor any other fights.
